I was given the privilege to make my daughter's wedding gown for her September wedding in the white mountains of New Hampshire.  She chose a Vogue pattern and a Casa Satin fabric with organza roses to embellish this simple design. This experience reminded me of how much I loved to make gowns, drawing on my dressmaking background. I am happy to offer my expertise in this area.

The Chuppah

Jewish history recalls that the wedding ceremony was held out of doors in the hope that the marriage would be blessed with as many children as there are stars in the heavens.  The chuppah, or wedding canopy, was created to provide a sense of sacred space in the wilderness.  It is open on all four sides to remind us of the world beyond our doors and our responsibility to it.

I created these four cotton panels, each panel 12 feet long and 18 inches wide, for the wedding above.

"Bride and groom stand together beneath their chuppah, the Jewish wedding canopy. The chuppah represents the promise of the home they will create together. The cloth that serves as a roof was created by the bride and groom with gracious help of close family friend Deborah Keiner. Three generations of their families are displayed in a pictorial family tree, reminding them of their separate pasts as they embark on a shared journey toward their future."
